Description
“Willful Amnesia” is a piece I created to exorcise the demons of a personal experience. I was driven to create this piece to understand the ways we justify our actions through memories…selectively remembering and forgetting what’s needed in order to absolve ourselves of regret and guilt. Do we hide from our memories? Allow them to haunt us? Confront them? Use them to justify, reconcile, ignore, or forgive our experiences? Do we rewrite memories to liberate ourselves? Is this process fleeting…undulating?

Beautiful work of art. Haunting, yet hopeful. Wonderful use of color and compositor. F/V

Vivid colors and vivid emotions - a truly evocative piece! I have always liked the idea of willful amnesia - as a parting with the past, on even terms, when we are finally able abandon our regrets when we chose to forget. At least, that was the inspiration when I wrote the song "Willful Amnesia". But it is always interesting to see another interpretation. I wish you well in all of your endeavors :) All the best, - Ashe
