Description
Fine art nature photograph capturing the brilliant and cheerful colors of a wild male Western Bluebird (Sialia Mexicana) perched on a driftwood log above the Pacific along Northern California's Mendocino Coast.
His portrait was captured in late December of 2015 as he rested between forays in search of insects on a seaside meadow. These cute little blue and orange passerines travel in flocks and are cavity nesters, belonging to the genus Sialia which is part of the Turdidae, or Thrush family. Though considerably smaller, they are closely related to American robins, another Thrush family member.
