WEATHERED GREEK BUILDING is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
This weathered, abandoned, and overgrown building in Santorini, Greece, with wonderful patina that only comes with years, still retains its charm, with its classic blue accents against the once-white textured walls.
The wonderful Greek blue, reminiscent of the Aegean Sea and Mediterranean Sea, is visible on the door, which is the focus of the image, and on the woodwork of the arched window over the door and the rectangular window to the left of the doorway. There is also a lighter, more pastel, shade of blue on some sort of door on the far right of the image.
Ground cover is growing all around the door and building, and there is evidence of vegetation from other seasons on the wall, especially to the right of the door; on the top of the building; and (my favorite) on top of the meter box on the far left.
The image has been enhanced with a pale blue vignette.
Scenes like this beckon me, as a photographer, and also intrigue me, as a traveler. I would love to know this building's past, and the stories it could tell.
