Description
As the wife of a Vietnam veteran dog handler, this image truly touches my heart. Each plaque laying on the ground bears the name of a dog that was killed in the war in Vietnam. Over 4,000 dogs served, and 3,800 died.

WOW, gorgeous composition and image Carolyn. Congratulations on your sale!
Carolyn Marshall replied:
Thank you so much, Suzanne. March 13 is National K9 Veterans Day, so I was glad to see this image was found. It is such a profound statement of the sacrifices our K9 soldiers made.

An excellent composition and a great tribute to our country's War Dogs and Handlers who served during the Vietnam War. As a former K-9 Handler, even though my two Army Dogs were not killed in combat, they remained there and were eventually euthanized after I left. So I left photographs of them at the base of The Wall during my visit years ago. Many thanks Carolyn for creating this image and congratulations on another sale! Best wishes!
Carolyn Marshall replied:
Thanks, Mel, and thank you and your dogs for their service! You probably by now know the background of my husband's service in Vietnam (K9 Security Police). For many years, we have worked to bring honor to not just the human veterans, but the four-legged ones too. With his (our) involvement with The Last Patrol, we have talked to SO many people who didn't know that dogs were used in the military back then, and that their service goes WAY back in time. Many K9 memorials are being erected all over the country and it is awesome to see them finally getting the honor they are due. So many lives were saved because of their sacrifices. My best to you!

With special thanks for posting this, Carolyn.. Touches the heart Congratulations on your feature in 1000 Views.. f/l
Carolyn Marshall replied:
Thank you, Maria. There are a lot of people who still don't realize what a big part these K9 soldiers played (and still play) in protecting our troops and those protecting us in security services.

Thank you Jeff, Anne-Elizabeth and AR for your comments and congratulations. The adding of the names to the "dog" tags, really makes one look at this subject with totally different eyes. There are so many who still are not aware of the sacrifice that the war dogs (and their handlers) make.
