Description
This ol' truck sits behind my barns in the junk row that accumalates on farms and ranches. In a few weeks, it's heading for greener pastures and restoration. Makes me happy that someone sees the beauty in these old things like I do!

In the 70s, my brother used to scrounge the country looking for old cars to retore. He always asked permission. They are harder to find now. Nice paintng.
Mia DeLode replied:
Sad to hear he's no longer restoring these old gems!! I still have this one sitting out back...

Lovely work! Will you get a chance to do a before and after painting?
Mia DeLode replied:
Thank you, Andrew!! I will probably never get the after done but I'm sure I will paint it again!

Oh wow, Mia, this is so awesome. I have just been visiting several of your images and my eye fell on this one and I had to stop and take a closer look. I'm totally "with" you on seeing the beauty in these dear old vehicles. You just do tend to fall in love with them ... and this one in particular, and your glorious artwork ... brings personality and pathos to the viewer in the best of ways. Add to that your note that he's going in for restoration and I am happy. Love, love, love the rich thick paint that is the snow ... the sheen of hesitant, tentative soft golden light that shows the break in the storm, figuratively and literally in this old boy's case ... and points up the feelings of happy hope that you've given this wonderful work of art. Absolutely love it.
Mia DeLode replied:
Awww!! Lois!! Your words never fail to encourage and are so very much appreciated!!

Though I failed to vote in a timely manner in my group's juried contest, so this is not "official", I want to congratulate you on what would have been your 2nd place win in our contest, "You CAN get there from here" sponsored by Exclusively Drawings and Painting. Your image will appear on our home page for the month of July!
