Description
Bonsai Rock is a popular attraction for photographers as it is a unique boulder with tiny trees growing out of it, enclosed next to a gorgeous Lake Tahoe shoreline.
I had seen photos of it in the past and it was high on my bucket list. When we decided to visit Tahoe I knew I would have to find it. It's not as easy to find or access as I had hoped. It's located on the east side of Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side of the lake, about 20 miles north of South Lake Tahoe, where we were staying. We made a coupe of trips out there before we found it, since it's barely visible from the road.
From the road, it is a quite a hike down to the beach. It's not a long way down, but it's steep and rocky and the trail is not easy to find or traverse after dark.
