Description
Touching up SilverHeels
I think that this painting is complete. I finished it several days ago when I posted a photo of it in situ. I brought it home and added the captain working on the boat. He was touching up little scratches here and there. First he painted them and then, he rubbed the spots down. I brightened the painting a bit here and there with rich colors. I hoped to get my friend's opinion on the painting before I varnish it. We have been missing each other the last couple weeks. Various things keep popping up and impeding our get-togethers. I intend this to be a surprise gift to them. That is why I am so interested in their opinion of the little scene. I haven't varnished it, yet. This allows me the chance to change or add something to the painting. I will await their decisions. I hope they like this better than they like my lettering the actual boat! LOL
I wish that I could remember what size and type this boat is. This is at dry-dock in Titusville, Florida. They plan to sail it down the Indian River to Cocoa in a few days. They have a bigger sailboat, too. This is a sailboat and that is about the most I can remember. This is an acrylic on canvas painting. I painted most of it on location but finalized it at home at my easel.

Dear AnnaJo, I always learn so much from your Behind-the -scenes BUZzz. I love how you shared your liberal use of colour with us. Often, plein aire painters try to capture the EXACT colours of Nature rather than intuitively paint by warmth and coolness, FEELING their way by physical sight rather than the Magic of intuitive sight. The MAGIC of accidental misplacements and value study is an arena in which you excel. I find your work GLOWs in spectral Light of soul rather than …merely exists…in its physical beauty!

Neat... a bit of an illusion going on here with a backdrop landscape on a screen?
AnnaJo Vahle replied:
Ahhh haaah....sorta kinda true. I did change the background for a bit more interest in colors. Thanks for your comment, Phil.
