I loved this picturesque street and took many pictures of it empty...and then this woman walked by. I had to turn around and run back and try to set up and take a picture before she disappeared from the scene. This street is very close to Chora Church. Chora Church, or the Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora (Kariye Camii), is one of the most beautiful examles of a Byzantine church. The interior of the building is covered with fine mosaics and frescoes. It is in the Edirnekapi neighborhood, in the western part of the municipality of Fatih in Istanbul. It is surrounded by narrow streets, one of which is pictured here.

I find the fact that you have a collection devoted to Women intriguing - and inspiring. This one immediately caught my eye and is right up my alley (if you'll pardon the expression). The textures, patterns, and tones are so strong they ought to swallow up the lone figure . . . but instead, with her centered presence, she dominates the scene. Best of all, she could be any woman who has lived long and well and doubtless supported, united, and strengthened those around her.
