Description
The winters in Northern Maine are brutal with frigid temperatures, but the beauty of the landscape are phenomenal such as this scene captured after a huge snow fall displaying a broken fence. As I usually visit this location 2 times a week as this is the starting entrance for my Hike through the forest to a location I found where there are usually anywhere from 15 up to 30 Great American Bald Eagles.
My hike towards this location usually takes 2 hours through the rough terrain with snow depths that can easily be 5 feet deep in some areas. When I first discovered this hideout the temperature was -42 f and it was brutal but when I came across the Eagles, it was all worthwhile. You never see a human while making this track!

Gorgeous but daunting winter scene, Gary! Beautiful image! Your writeup commands my total respect and admiration. I love a challenging winter hike, but -42 is a bit too cold for these old bones. You definitely take it to the limit! f/v
