Description
I found this Quaking Aspen crying sap while out playing in the woods with our off road vehicles. Is it a tear of joy or a tear of sadness? If it is a tear of sadness, it would seem to be in direct contrast to the fun memories that we were making and all the fun memories that others make in the same area. Although there was some disrespect shown to the trees and nature in that area; overall, I'd say that the off roaders were careful to stay in the designated areas. Maybe that is because they know that the trees have eyes.
I recently wrote a poem about healing and this photo works to pair with the poem. The poem was originally inspired by someone else's photo of a burnt out land with a piano sitting in the middle. A soldier had stopped to touch the keys.
This is the poem:
"The Silence Of Death"
Deafening.
A melody.
Just a note at first.
And then another.
And another.
The note became a song.
A song that attracted a bird.
Just one at first.
And then another.
And another.
The birds sang in unison.
Their harmony spoke to the sky.
The sky mourned death with big, heavy tears that shook the ground.
The ground's burns were healed.
Healing found a seed.
Just one seed at first.
And then another.
And another.
The seed took root and grew.
Just one at first.
And then another.
And another.
The sky saw and wept tears of joy.
The seed flowered.
And then another.
And another.
The song birds saw the flowers made new seeds.
A bird gathered the seed.
And then another.
And another.
They gave those seeds to the ground and the ground received.
The sky saw and wept with hope.
