"The Rock Bridge" -- One of the most prominent examples of the "karst" topography that this area is made of is the natural rock bridge that Rockbridge State Park was named for. Even many years ago when it was privately owned, this area was popular with the public, and was a favorite spot for picnics and other gatherings. The moss and lichen that grows on the limestone rocks is reflected in the gently flowing water running under the bridge. (Rockbridge State Park, Columbia, Missouri)
