Description
Still standing after weathering many a storm, both of man and of nature, is Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop. Located on the corner of Bourbon and St. Philip Streets in New Orleans, Louisiana, Lafitte's is regarded as the oldest structure to be used as a bar in the United States and one of the oldest buildings in New Orleans. This shop was not only a blacksmith's shop, but also a base for smuggling operations and a meeting center for businessmen from Spain, France, Africa, and North America. Today, it is a must-see for tourists visiting New Orleans and a gathering place to hear music and to raise a toast or two. Cheers!
