Description
The rich manager was shocked to find a fisherman lying on the beach next to his boat in the middle of the day smoking a pipe. He asked him why he wasn't out fishing. The fisherman replied that he had caught enough fish for the day and did not need any more.
- You could catch more!
- What would I do with it?
- You could sell it and make more money! And then you could buy a motor and go to deeper water and catch even more fish. Then you could afford to buy fishing nets and catch more fish and make
even more money. Then you could buy another boat, maybe a whole fishing fleet! You could be
rich like me!
- And what does a rich man like you do?
- I enjoy life.
- And what do you think I am doing, lying here on the beach?
This photo was taken in Kardamili, Peloponnes in Greece. This was in April, and we were in the first load of tourists for the season. The blue-green water was amazingly clear and inviting, but it was too cold for swimming. These two fishing boats in complementary colors were just waiting to be captured by my camera. I added some textures to make the image more vintage.
One of the south Mediterranean's best-kept secrets
Kardamili is a spectacularly beautiful seaside village located in the Mani, a stunning region in the southern Peloponnese, the coast of Greece defined by travel connoisseurs as the New Cote d'Azur. Set dramatically against a backdrop of crystalline aqua-blue waters, majestic cypress trees, wild olive groves, verdant rolling hills and distant snowcapped mountains, it is one of the prettiest of villages that overlook the calm seas and splendid sunsets of the Messinian Gulf. 3 hours and 30 minutes' drive from either the capital of Athens or the port of Patras, and just 35 km from the nearby city of Kalamata, it remains one of the south Mediterranean's best-kept secrets: an exclusive, small, unspoilt resort that boasts stately villas, enchanting stone maisonettes, lush gardens, a picturesque harbour and fantastic beaches.
