Description
He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.
-Mark 16:6
In Christianity, the empty tomb is the tomb of Jesus that was found to be empty by the women myrrhbearers who were present at Jesus crucifixion. They had come to his tomb to anoint his body with spices. These are things his close disciples should have done, but the Gospel of Mark portrays Jesus female followers as consistently showing more faith and courage than the men.
Easter, the preeminent feast that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, is clearly the earliest Christian festival. Since the earliest Christian times, it has focused on the redemptive act of God in the death and resurrection of Christ
