Description
Wild horses in McCullough peaks horse range.
The word mustang comes from the Spanish word mustengo, which means ownerless beast.
Mustangs are one of the few breeds of horses that live wild in North America.
They are related to the horses that the Spanish explorers brought to North America 400 years ago.
Horses that seem wild today (such as Mustangs) are actually feral horses.
A female horse is called a mare. In the wild it is the mare that decides when the herd moves
on to another spot to find food.
The eyes of a horse are larger than most other animals', and they can move independently,
giving the horse a shallow panoramic vision. Because its lenses are inflexible,
a horse will focus on an image by moving its head to direct light rays to the
central part of the retina. Horses can also see in color,Although it is more difficult
for them to see purples and violets, they have less trouble with yellows and greens.
The scientific name for the horse is equus caballus.
Technically called monocular vision, horses can use both eyes to look at two different objects since they are on each side of their head. Hence, they can use one eye to
watch the front, and another to watch the back in case predators are around.
Horses cannot breathe through their mouth. When their nostrils become obstructed, they could suffocate.
There are over 150 different breeds and types of horses.

Now, this is something we just don't see every day! Oh my, the ferocity is clearly evident; the challenge! I don't know how you did this (you are brave!) ... this is truly amazing , Wildlife! Unusual that the mustangs can't breathe through their mouths (there's plenty of space there) ... :))

Thank you very much Connie, Yes, instances are fast monuments in time. I was waiting by a drinking hole where different bands of horse come to hydrate. Then when the stallions clash to protect their herd, wonderful and exciting moments happen!
