T38 Talon – Supersonic Trainer
Breaking all records by being the first supersonic trainer aircraft and still in service after 50yrs with the USAF. Used extensively by NASA for astronaut training and as an aggressor in the Top Gun evaluation program the T38 has been at the forefront of US flight training. In the late 70’s the T38 was used by the Thunderbird team as a temporary (8 yrs) replacement for the F4 Phantoms. Seen here in a late evening formation session – a remarkable aircraft from the 1950’s.
