Description
Yaki Point is one of our favorite viewpoints. As parking is limited the only way you can visit is by taking the Bus, hiking in or Riding a bicycle. However with disabled placard, you an get a Yaki and Hermit Road pass for your vehicle.
There are many viewpoints from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon on the Arizona side or south rim this one is one of my favorites.... Some of our favorites viewpoints are reached from the South entrance, others on the west side in the Navajo Reservation. Our favorite view points are, from anywhere along Hermit Road to Hermit Rest, like pima, mariopa, hopi, or views from various areas and Yaki which can only be accessed by bus. But, many never see some of our favorite places, the buses running the routes in the Grand Canyon only go as far as Yaki Point. We like a lot of the viewpoints past there, especially Grandview, Moran, Lapin and Navajo or Desert View some unnamed view points.
For thousands of years, the Grand Canyon has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon a holy site and made pilgrimages to it. The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was Garca Lpez de Crdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540
