... Caught at the perfect moment,
the sun's rays are reflected
into the tidal pool
on Lake Jackson
in Sebring, Florida...
The marsh grasses
are illuminated
in gold and burnt reds
as the sun makes her way
to the western horizon.
This lake is ringed
with wooden fishing
and boating docks,
this one jauntily decorated
with a tattered but proud
American flag.
The sky is filled
with late afternoon thunderclouds,
parting at the end of the day
to reveal heaven-sent sunbeams...
Lake Jackson is just a short distance
from Highland Hammocks State Park,
one of the beautiful unspoiled
rural areas of Central Florida...
