Description
At first look at this area of the Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island, one might think it is a relatively young forest. That is not the case. The trees and other vegetation are stunted due to the wet and acidic soil conditions. Actually very few plants can actually grow in this area. One of these is the shore pine, which is the only type of tree that grows here. The most prominent type of vegetation is the Sphagnum moss. The moss covers most of the bog and is 1-2 meters thick and up to 400 years old. The lack of nutrients caused by the unique conditions has created something that resembles a small bonzi forest. This is a short hike on a boardwalk and well worth the trip.
I offer a variety of landscape, nature and wildlife images and fine art digital paintings. I also have many agricultural, farming and countryside images as well. Most of my work is from around the Pacific Northwest, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, British Columbia, and Alberta. Please look through my galleries or visit my website to view my full portfolio.
All of my work is original and copyrighted. The watermarks will not be on your final print. Thank you for looking and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
