Description
This is a view from the tombs of St. Louis # 1 Cemetery on Basin to one of the buildings of the Iberville projects. St. Louis # 1 is the oldest cemetery in the city and is the final resting place of Marie Laveau and Mayor Dutch Morial to name a couple. Many of the developers of the city are interred here.

Great sense of place on this! I feel as though I am there. L/F
Kathleen K Parker replied:
Thanks, Caitlyn. There is a big "to-do" with the Catholic Archdiocese about the closing of ST.Louis One to the public due to vandalism. The vandalism happens at night when it is closed. We have a petition out in nola for them to reconsider. Meanwhile I have to get back there before March and photograph ever single tomb! Sigh. C'est la vie! kk

Cool image, kk! It's like a compressed history lesson. :)
Kathleen K Parker replied:
Hahaha!!! Exactly! Yes, it is Steve, and if you zoom in, you will even see a single strand of Mardi Gras beads in the image. About says it all! There ya geaux!
