Description
This is a solitary cumulus cloud on the south shore of Lake Solitaire in the fall of 2006. The name of the painting is misspelled intentionally. The wind and the dry environment in the ridge of high pressure were shredding the cumulus as it kept trying to get organized.
This is a bit of a pun on the name of the lake and the almost solitary cumulus cloud. There is actually more than just a single cumulus over the southern shore of Lake Solitaire. The afternoon convection was very buoyant. The cloud edges where being stirred in smaller vortices that were driven by the strong updrafts. Some crepuscular rays were also peaking through the clouds.
This is more a study in the colours of the clouds and sky than anything else. It was lots of fun.
