Description

This is a Snowshoe Hare that I spent quite a bit of time with. Eventually he became more and more comfortable with me, and eventually allowed me to take this photograph - with a wide angle lens - from just a foot away! He is changing from winter's white to summer's brown, and just a week later, all traces of white were gone, except for the bottoms of his feet, which remain white throughout the year. Photo taken near Salmon Meadows in the Okanogan National Forest, north of Conconully.
