Bamboo is a bountiful grass used throughout China.
Relying mainly on simple, traditional means for transportation over short distances, people in Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, one of China's old and very famous water towns, one hour away from ultra modern, booming Shanghai, still carry their heavy loads on bamboo sticks balanced across their shoulders.
But no matter how heavy the load is ... the friendly smile on their faces cannot be missed.

I adore this. The joy and happiness in it. Street life is not always so happy and it is lovely to see this smiling face.
