Description
Shop Talk has that girl, Kayla Gomez, behind the counter. Linda had been Kaylas mentor and a 2nd Mom since Kayla was in the 5th grade. Kayla is now a junior, majoring in Advertising Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, NY. Gathering reference, drawing and painting was a die hard passion that Ms. Simon and Kayla had in common. Ms Simon always said....Kayla has an old soul.. spending hours in the studio bridged the gap of age as they critiqued their work. Linda made a promise to Kayla that she would paint her as she did for her daughter Hillary. Kayla had a job at a hair salon when she was in high school. The Beginner Drivers Guide with a stop sign is alluding to one of the first driving lessons Linda had with Kayla....uh Kayla that was a stop sign you just went through. Following a UPS man was part of a game when out and the Coffee Mania cups are from the daily traditional coffee run! The rug is Ms. Simons rug in her living room. The black egg in the bowl is a testament of her first attempt at drawing...Less is More. She spent every Halloween at 13 Elm were a bat and a mouse have a story! The hand mirror bears KCG and ONCE Kayla dreamed of being a pastry chef. At a young age Kayla grew her beautiful hair very long and donated to Locks of Love. Linda Simon decided to make this painting a example of her love of texture, aiming for a ..Steel Magnolia.. feel, minus the Dolly Parton in the shop!
