This is a sharp-shinned hawk as photographed by Stephen Vaughan. The stare of the bird in the image is extremely striking and I wanted to work with it. It is also the most appropriate title.

I have seen a lot of sharp-shinned hawks at my bird feeder. They cruise through and the odd time they are successful. One bird was so hungry that it ate the house sparrow on the site, leaving only the beak and feet behind.
