Description
Standing on Skellig Michael, you can see the boats waiting offshore to bring back their passengers from their island trip. The island, not much more than a huge rock pretruding from the ocean floor, is not the easiest place to get to. If the seas are rough, the boats are not allowed to bring passengers. Landing isin't easy, even if the seas are calm enough. Most of the shore is what you see here, pure rock. There is one concrete landing area that one has to be very careful getting off the boat as it bounces up and down in the water. And only one boat will fit at a time. This is why, I suppose, they wait offshore.
Off in the distance you see the pointed peaks of Little Skellig, much smaller than Skellig Michael, from from which this view originates. And further past Little Skellig, you can see the coast of Ireland.
This day, the seas were calm enough, but still fairly rough.

Another cool one Jeff! But it makes me nervous to look down from that height!
Jeffrey Kolker replied:
You should have climbed the hundreds up steep steps up the island to the monastery at the top. No hand rails, and if you fell... well, that might be the end! Thanks :)
