Description
The lynx sails past Whaleback lighthouse off the coast of Kittery Maine and Portsmouth New Hampshire. In the foreground you can see rogosa rose which grows wild along the shore here. She was the first square topsail schooner to be launched in Rockport since 1885. Lynx is an interpretation of an actual privateer named Lynx built by Thomas Kemp in 1812 in Fells Point, Maryland. She was among the first ships to defend American freedom by evading the British naval fleet then blockading American ports and serving in the important privateering efforts.
