Description
Saguaro Cactus in Bloom. Giant Saguaro cactus, Carnegiea gigantea, blooming in the Sonoran Desert landscape, Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, April 2014. The saguaro cactus, which can live for 150-200 years, is the tallest cactus in the United States. Its white flowers, which bloom in the spring, are the Arizona State flower. It only grows naturally in the Sonoran Desert. The flower blooms once a year at night and each bloom stays open until around noon the following day.
