Description
RUSTIC RURAL MANCOS COLORADO by PRISCILLA BURGERS
A rustic barn with a lot of character is in a farm in rural Mancos, Colorado. The Mancos Valley is surrounded by the La Plata Mountains to the east, and the spectacular cliffs of Mesa Verde National Park to the west, as seen behind the barn in this image. Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from AD 600 to 1300. Today this national park protects nearly 5,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States. The Sleeping Ute mountain can be seen in the background to the right of the barn.
