Description
The design of this rose heart is compelling to me and became a color field painting, all shades of the same basic color in its depths and highlights. But, many many colors went into creating those shadows and undulating petals. That's the fun of watercolor. The big dew drop nestles into the petal's fold waiting to be shaken loose by a breeze.
The original painting is matted in white archival mat and backing and framed in 20 x 16 inch white wooden contemporary frame with glass.
Image Size: 14 1/4" x 9 3/4"
Frame Size: 20" x 16" white wood frame with white mat
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them. These are my Floralscapes.
I was honored to be the gold medal winning poster artist for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in 2016 with my watercolor painting of a tulip bouquet.
In 2012 I qualified to be a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). This is earned by being juried into a select number of local chapter and international watercolor society shows sponsored by NWWS. The initials now follow my signature on recent watercolor paintings.

SO beautiful. This may have more sexy than what O'Keefe's images evoked in her time. So nice to find someone able to really go on with what she did with floral form portions. BIG lf

Gorgeous work, Sandy. Reminds me very much of Georgia O'Keeffe. Beautiful composition.
