Description
Never one to miss a good tower climb, I signed on to the climb of the Toledo Cathedral tower. You have to go in a group, which is too bad because you only get a limited time along the way to take photos, and there are some wonderful photos to be had! This is one of the views of the town rooftops, all ajumble with the wonderful colors and textures of the tiles, windows and walls. The cathedral is more properly known as The Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo and is one of the three 13th-century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain. Many consider it to be the best of the Gothic style in Spain. Toledo itself was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986 for its extensive cultural and monumental heritage as one of the former capitals of the Spanish Empire and place of coexistence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures, as well as the place where harsh religious persecutions were held against the Jews by the Visigoths. The walled city retains the charm of 'old Europe'.
