Description
this modified mini-train was built from a truck chassis and engine. called the 'galloping goose' it was a low cost means of servicing towns like rico and telluride colorado with mail delivery. the routes were discontinued around WWII. here i've depicted the goose crossing the trestle near lizard head pass near trout lake.

R christopher, you did a wonderful job on this painting! I have heard of the Galloping Goose when I was investigating visiting Durango. This is really beautiful. f/l

This is my kind of train. Since you called it a montage, it appears you placed the train into the landscape photo, but I would not have guessed by looking. Great work and processing. VF

thanks for the comments gary. this one is kind of a patch-work mess. there was an almost overcast sky so i pasted in the blue and clouds. that required me to paint the edges of the trees to match. i added the flowers in the foreground--a pain since the grass stems and such had to be painted up into the image. the creek was almost invisible so i painted it blue. the train was a nightmare to place into the image--it's perspective doesn't exactly agree with that of the bridge, though we could blame that on the bridge builders perhaps. oh well, it is after all just a historical re-enactment. thanks again for your kind remarks.
