Description
Rainbow Bee-eaters are found 0ver most of Australia and like open country. They build a nest at the end of a mud tunnel which they excavate in the soft mud on the banks of rivers. The male is about 23 cm and very brightly coloured/ with a black curved bill rufous crown and a black eye stripe edged with blue. The throat is yellow with a hint of a black stripe at the throat. The back is light green and wings are blue extending into bright copper coloured underwings. The tail is black with extended central feathers - longer in the male. The female is similar in colour.
