Description
As a hunter is walking along the palmettos with his trusty dog, an English pointer he's taken out on every hunt since he can remember, he begins to enjoy the scenery more so than the hunt itself. Today is a day for him to reflect on past memories of his father going hunting with his father, and the way they enjoyed the dogs and one anothers company. Quail hunting is a Southern tradition in every sense of the word, it's a time for memories and making friends. Throughout the South today, there are numerous quail hunting plantations that honor the tradition by offering hunts with mules and wagons. Just as the hunter begins to drift off into his world of memories, boom !!!!, There they go,up in the air , right from under your feet! And no matter how many times you may have done this before, they always shake you up a little, but he's a savvy old hunter who's seen this before, and before they get out of range he's able to get a couple more out of the covey. My idea when doing a painting like this is to get the feel of the hunt as closely as possible, so hopefully i've done some sort of justice to the tradition of Southern quail hunting.
