Description
A Prickly Pear cactus blooms profusely in the Springtime in the desert filling the desert landscape with a wide variety of beautiful and unbelievably-colored desert wildflowers. The original painting was done from one large pedal of a prickly pear cactus in my side yard. There were probably 40 to 50 pedals covered and each one had every stage of blooming on it from the purple bud, the pink opening, though the pink and yellow full flower, to the withered fragment of pink and yellow at the end of the cycle. People tell me that the desert has no color, but they have never lived through Springtime in the desert
