Description
This praying mantis was perched upon an arched doorway when my mother and I visited the Great Wall of China. Having seen praying mantises in Southern Illinois when I was a child, we were amazed to find one half a world away. This seemed to me like a statement about the universality of nature and human experience: we have more in common than the borders of our different countries and cultures might suggest.
