Description
As the story goes, Andrew Hallidie, watched and worried about injuries when he saw horses slipping on the steep hills of San Francisco. He was the one that first came up with the idea of the cable car (although that is sometimes disputed). Nevertheless, by 1890 there were 8 cable lines running throughout the city.
The image shows one of the historic cable cars making its way down a hill in San Francisco. This wonderful mode of transportation is a must for anyone playing the tourist in the "City by the Bay".
