Life is a journey. Starting from the time when one has the ability and the opportunities to make choices, one will, in general, go through 4 phases: adolenscence, adulthood, retirement and next life. In each phase, although one faces different situations, each is closely interconnected with the other. This painting depicts the fourth phase - next life. As we know everyone will die in due time. However, it does not mean everyone will get a free pass. Some will die peacefully, some painfully, others violently. It all has to do with what one has done in this life. As shown in the painting, on the calm ocean with gentle ripples, a boat carrying our souls slowly sails into the sunset, to the unknown world. A lighthouse stands on the rocks to guide people at night. Upfront is something yet not so calm - splashes against the rocks. It means some souls will have a rough ride. The dramatic sky also indicates even after death, there are different destinations for each of us. Good people go to heaven, bad people go to hell, and the worst will be reborn back into this world as pigs. It all depends once again on what we have done in this life. So it would be wise to think really hard and act accordingly before this phase of life arrives.
