Description
"Park on the West Palm Beach Waterway"
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
One of the most beautiful cityscapes
on the east coast of Florida,
this is West Palm Beach,
Florida at sunset.
The bridge lights are on
as dusk settles in,
looking like a candelabra of candles
lighting the path of motorists
and joggers going home for the evening.
The bridge is called Flagler Bridge,
named after Mr. Flagler
who brought the railroad to Palm Beach County a century ago. In the distance is the skyline of West Palm Beach, the lights popping on in the tall buildings that line the Intracoastal Waterway. The waterway has brackish water from the inlets that have been carved in to gain access to the ocean for vessels carrying products and for fishing and pleasure boats.
