Description
Paris has 37 bridges across the Seine, of which four are pedestrian only and two are rail bridges. Three link ile Saint Louis to the rest of Paris, eight do the same for ile de la Cite and one links the 2 islands to each other.
The Pont Notre Dame is a bridge that crosses the Seine in Paris, France linking the quai de Gesvres on the Rive Droite with the quai de la Corse on the ile de la Cite.
The bridge is noted for being the "most ancient" in Paris, in the sense that, while the oldest bridge in Paris that is in its original state is undoubtedly the Pont Neuf, a bridge in some form has existed at the site of the Pont Notre-Dame since antiquity
Paris is the capital and most populous city in France. It is situated on the River Seine, in the north of the country, at the heart of the ile de France region.
Within its administrative limits, and it has 20 quarters, the city has more than two million inhabitants while its metropolitan area is one of the largest population centres in Europe with more than 12 million inhabitants.
