Description
This is a panoramic image of the Pedernales River where it winds through Pedernales River State Park, located roughly 45 minutes west of Austin, in the Texas Hill Country. A 1/4 mile hike will take you to the parking lot to this scenic overlook. This is an area of the river where it is forbidden to swim or wade, since the river can flash flood without a warning, even in nice weather. The river drops about 50 feet over a distance of 3000 feet and the cascading falls are formed by the water running on the layered limestone.
I made this image during late Fall, when the oaks, bald cypresses, and sycamore are ablaze with deep oranges, red, and ocher colors. Notice how such trees gracefully pepper the photograph. Thanks for looking. FAA watermark will not show on final printed artwork.
