Description
I made this image of the Espaola Valley with the backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains trying to emulate the master, Ansel Adams. As we were making our way back from Ghost Ranch to Albuquerque, I was desperately trying the find the original location from where Adams made his image, moonrise, in the small hamlet of Hernandez, west of Espanola. Well, it turns out that things have changed in 70 years, so I abandoned that futile attempt and settle for this overlook on the side of Highway 285. You can clearly see the Sangre de Cristo Mountainsm with a bit of alpenglow remaining on the clouds and the snowy peaks. Somewhere to the west right of the image, the Rio Chama meets the Rio Grande. Thanks for looking. FAA watermark WILL NOT show up on final printed image.
