Description
One of the benefits of travelling is that you realise that people see things differently in other parts of the world. The predominance of our secular scientific view of the world is not as widely accepted as we might suppose.
I'm interested in the impact the past still has on the modern psyche.. the megalith is one of the earliest existing forms of human expression in Britain. I personally don't believe the early Britons where any less sophisticated than their mainland European counterparts, our cave paintings have probably been washed away.. stone carvings have been weathered away by the climate. But these large stones remain dotted around the country. So these large stones are our direct tangible connection to the very edge of our history... before the written word.. before the apple dropped for Newton.
So this an image about the complexity of the present, compared to these monumental but simple structures of the far distant past... the easy multiplicity of the present and the harsh singularity of this distant past. The many voices of the present and these silent witnesses to the frontier of human history in these islands.
What does it all mean.. I've no idea.. but I don't believe I am descended from soup.
