Description

When I painted this, I was at a loss as to how to make the orchids stand out. I decided to add a blue background and make the shadows a combination of the background and the flowers. As it happens,a lavender-blue ribbon in the arrangement used the same colors. When I finished this and it sold, it gave me confidence to used more color in paintings.
