Description
#100515-A "One Tree Left" 8 x 8 collage on watercolor paper mounted on 8 x 8 wood panel
Materials Used: 140lb. Watercolor paper, polymer medium, a nautical map painted with acrylics graphite crayon, mark making with a tracing wheel and acrylic paints, acrylics glazing, shadowing and sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.
Meaning behind the art: Every day these past couple of weeks I have been chipping away at my task list and feeling good about crossing things off. Gray was the color I was seeing in the sky, I love gray. What is it right spelling? Grey or GrayI use them both. How about you? When I got into the studio after lunch I knew I had some gray collage paper prepared and ready. The sheet I used was a gift from an artist friend, nautical maps. Ive been afraid to use them but then sometimes youve got to face that fear right? Soto challenge myself I decided to use one piece of paper. This piece of paper has two sides so that allowed me to add a bit of contrast. I started with a simple horizontal composition and kind of let the papers tell me what to do. Ive been working on another piece of art that Im actually sewing the papers before I tack them down and the receptive stitch appeals to me. So I pulled out my tracing wheel ran it through some of the acrylic paint and made the marks.
