Description
8,162 years ago, two helmsmen, who represent an advanced race of humanoids, traveling in a FTL Alcubierre-type drive, intergalactic ship, stand before the 'Pillars of Creation' 500 years after it was created by a super nova 6,500 light-years away from earth, in the constellation of Serpens. While these humanoids were able to see the "Pillars" almost at the moment (500 years) of its creation, we are just seeing it (Courtesy of Hubble) as it appeared 7,000 years ago, with its light having traveled 7,000 years to enter our corneas 1,000 years ago.
The background is the interstellar gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula, some 6,500-7,000 light years from Earth; and known as 'The Pillars of Creation', because it gives birth to stars! Courtesy of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope
