Description
The Provence in southeastern France stretches from Orange to Nice. Its gently sloping vineyards and lavender fields are the backdrops that enthralled Cezanne, Van Gogh and Chagall. Many world famous towns and villages are located in the Provence - Cannes, Marsaille, Avignon, Antibes, Arles, and Nice, to name just a few.
Valbonne, which means 'the good valley' in Provençal, is a very picturesque and tranquil village about 15 miles north of Cannes in the hills near Nice in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
The old village, which has a large Anglophone population, has retained much of its 16th-century character, though mixed with an active town atmosphere. In contrast to the twisty little streets in the hundreds of other medieval villages of Beyond, Valbonne village is laid out in neat, symmetrical rectangles, following the layout of Roman cities. The area is steeped in history, and you can even find the remains of one of the Roman aqueducts which carried water from Sophia Antipolis to Antibes.
A warm and peaceful village where the art of living and conviviality reigns, Valbonne Village offers its visitors numerous occasions to spend some time in a quality environment such as olive trees and grape vines, roses and jasmine.
