Description
Old Stage Harbor Lighthouse, or Harding's Beach Lighthouse as it is sometimes known dates back to 1880, Although the lantern is gone, the cast iron tower and Victorian keepers quarters still exist. Decommissioned in 1933 this extremely foggy point was a render-vous for rum runners and bootleggers during Prohibition. It's located near Chatham, MA at the elbow of the Cape. Very charming and peaceful spot to pull your boat up and fish or just take in the sun. If you look at a lot of northeastern U.S. coastal lighthouses, you'll see that the keepers quarters are all similar. Why mess with success? The original cost for construction was $9,882.74.
