This old house in Donaldsonville is among many in its historic district. The houses were built between antebellum years until 1933. This old home has a tin roof as most all have and which all had when constructed. Columns and architectural ornamentation decorate the front of the building. A carport has been added. The back of the house is sagging. The house next door looks pretty good. It is not built in this period. A live oak graces the small front yard. Donaldsonville is not far from either Baton Rouge or New Orleans. It boasts the greatest number of historic houses of this type in the river road towns above New Orleans. The Mississippi River is nearby.
