This photograph was taken October 2012 during a sunset pontoon tour. The Okefenokee Swamp is a shallow, 438,000 acre, peat-filled wetland straddling the GA/FL line. The Okefenokee is the largest blackwater swamp in North America. The Okefenokee Swamp is home to many wading bird species. The Okefenokee is famous for its amphibians and reptiles such as toads, frogs, turtles, lizards, snakes as well as the American alligator and also a habitat for the Florida black bear.
